As a photographer, TikTok has quickly become one of my favorite marketing platforms for my photography business! I’ve gotten tons of leads from TikTok because of it’s algorithm and how easy it is to reach new people! We’ll unpack why I love TikTok, what content you can make, and how easy it is to recycle content to and from other platforms!
Why I love using TikTok for marketing my photography business
TikTok is one of my favorite ways to market my photography business! Unlike Instagram, TikTok doesn’t have to be perfect. I’m honestly putting videos together really quickly in apps like Capcut then uploading them! I’m not searching for perfect trending audios, or writing super meaningful captions.
TikTok’s algorithm is also different from other social media. I feel like it pushes your video out quickly, and if people like it right away, it starts to take off! A lot of non-followers see the videos you share so it’s easier to get your work to new eyes and reach new people!
TikTok also acts like a search engine. Once it identifies your video’s subject, it comes up on people’s FYP that have searched for or liked similar videos! If you’re posting about a certain location, it will push the video to people in that location.
Creating videos for TikTok to boost your photo business
There are so many videos you can share (and recycle from instagram!) I love using a video editor like CapCut to create videos and repost them on TikTok and Instagram without the logos if I want to cross share.
At your photoshoots, make sure you’re taking BTS on your phone or put your phone on aa tripod while you shoot! You can use these clips in all sorts of videos! I’ll also take green screen videos with photos behind me to talk about locations or other topics that photos can help support!

Using the photo only feature on TikTok
TikTok also has a “photo only” feature where you can share pictures you took! I love uploading carousels or other graphics I’ve already made on Instagram for this! If I made a carousel, I can upload those photos and then copy and paste the same caption I used on Instagram!
I’ll also make graphic slides that are similar to a blog! Some ideas could be prompts I used to get this photo, or how to elope in the redwoods! It’s really easy to recycle instagram content on the photo only section!
